As I’ve gotten ready for my experience in Los Angeles, several people have told me that they want to know how it goes. So for those of you who really do care, you can now find twice weekly updates on my hybrid personal/professional blog at blog.DavidJGarcia.com.
Having a blog now is no big deal—my mother has one, and she’s still learning how to move pictures from her digital camera to the computer. Every company, product, website, college student, political candidate, teenager, and homemaker has a blog. I even know of three dairy goats who, I’m pretty sure, have their own blog. So what’s in it for you? Why do you even care if one more person you know has a blog? Three reasons:
- Quality: I’m marketing myself as a professional and as a freelancer. While I may stretch the English language a bit to keep the style interesting, you won’t find any l33t, SHOUTING, balant errers; or sentences without punctuation or capitalization i think that would just be annoying, other than the examples you just read (or skipped).
- Variety: Whether you’re reading because you’re interested in my life, because you follow the communications field, or because you like the other content I share, I promise to try not to bore you with the rest of it. There will be enough of whatever brought you here to make it worth your time, and hopefully you’ll find the rest of my site interesting enough to read as well. If not, feel free to skim.
- Frequency: I’m creating a hybrid blog of my personal and professional life partly because they’re so hard to separate—I love communications, and it’s a part of who I am—and partly to ensure that every time you visit my site you will find something new to read, watch, or view. No internet experience is as frustrating as getting involved in a story online and then finding out it hasn’t been updated since 2006. By the time you get up in the morning on Mondays and Thursdays, I’ll have something new posted.*
So there’s my pitch. Come back and you’ll find news, entertainment, stories, videos, photos, politics, and links—plus whatever else I think you’ll want to see. Don’t forget to check out my main site, DavidJGarcia.com, and if you know anyone who needs freelance communications work, I’ll be indebted to you if you’ll connect us. Thanks!
* I reserve the right to eventually move to less frequent (but still regular) updates after I have some significant content developed. I also reserve the right to post more frequently if I want, obviously.
Other fine print: I reserve the copyright and all associated rights to all posted material unless otherwise noted. Embedded, linked, and quoted material remains the property of its legal owner. Comments are welcome and appreciated, but keep it clean: my mom’s reading this, and—for all you know—so is yours. If you want to use any of my stuff, please just let me know—I’m sure we can work something out.
