The ability to quantify results is important yet challenging in public relations. I’ve been doing some calculating, and I’ve finally been able to come up with some solid numbers reflecting my work.
- So far this summer I have personally (myself, as an individual) collected approximately 2,000 letters from more than 1,000 different people supporting or opposing various state and local legislation.
- Our four-person team has been instrumental in defeating/changing two major, statewide, industry-rocking bills, thanks to those letters.
- My writing has been printed in 750,000 copies of magazines and newspapers. Articles my press agentry encouraged others to write have been printed more than half a million times.
- Just three months after the launch of my blog, my site is now the top (#1 [or occasionally #2] of 1.86 million) Google, Ask, and Yahoo result for David J Garcia (with or without quotes).
- Just as exciting for me, my site is now the 53rd-ish result for a Google search for David Garcia–putting me well within reach of any stalkers who only know that much about me. When you have a name this common, that’s not bad.
In other news:
- Thanks to your feedback (thank you!) and a new assignment, I’ve already changed my resume yet again.
- I’m planning the launch of a controversial yet hopefully-significant new website soon. Stay tuned for updates.
- My three-month anniversary of blogging signals it’s time for a shift. My feet are now wet, and I have a lot of ideas about where I want to go with this. Hopefully I can share content that you will find interesting, relevant, and enjoyable. I’ll be making the changes over the next couple of months as I decide which ideas to run with.
