Here's some of what I've written recently:

“You’re here for the California Restaurant Association open house? Right this way; please follow me. The party is on the 25th floor, in the penthouse overlooking the Capitol. The view is wonderful, and there’s food and drink. There will be a registration table when you get to the top.”

The top floor isn’t quite finished, but the live music, catered food, and mingling power players–combined with the spectacular view of Sacramento–give the industrial-style space an elegant feel. This is your chance to mingle with lawmakers and lobbyists, the people who make things happen, politically, in California.

A jaunt down to the 20th floor for a tour reveals the CRA’s innovative workspace. The office builds on restaurant themes and styles. Open spaces encourage collaboration, and the entire suite maintains a modern, professional feel.

Oh, and the food is to die for. Steak. Scallops. Chocolate-dipped strawberries. Foie gras. And peach cobbler. Enjoy!

I’m the one greeting you on your way in and taking you to the elevator. Or the one running the tours. Or just taking a few minutes to take it all in myself.

I may never choose to become one of those lobbyists. But I have enjoyed my involvement.

“Thank you for coming; we’re glad you were here. Have a good night!”
