Music has always been an important part of my life. When I was just a toddler, I would go about my day singing. One my family’s earliest home videos shows two-years-old me playing in the backyard while singing songs I learned from Church audiocassettes.
While I know I’m not the best singer, I’ve never really outgrown that urge to sing. Music brings joy. It can uplift, calm, inspire, energize, comfort, soothe, or teach. Good music can draw us to understand the divine. Negative music can drag us into the awful depths of despair or reckless abandon. Positive music has the ability to urge us into wise choices we might not otherwise make. Music entertains and relaxes; it also persuades us regarding ideas, feelings, or actions.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to begin a blog post series on music. My tastes are diverse. I don’t expect anyone to like every track I appreciate. But the tracks I share here–I believe–are worth a listen.
My first recommendation is a track by an obscure L.A. band, “Undergreen.” “What We Do Together” is a celebration of friendships. “What we do together just might last forever.”
