I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m sure you do too.
As a former president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008), has said:
There are two little words in the English language that perhaps mean more than all others. They are “thank you.” Comparable words are found in [...]

Writing
November 24th, 2008 · No Comments
It’s funny–having this big, blank canvas twice a week. I could put literally anything here that I can think, create, find or do.
Sometimes, a topic stands out and demands to be written, like when I went to “The Price is Right“. Sometimes, an experience teaches me something that I want to share. Occasionally, a topic in the back of my mind [...]

If I were regularly updating my Facebook status, here are some things I might consider saying.
David Garcia :
thought too hard today.
was greeted by protesters as he went to Sunday worship.
briefly considered making a counter-protest sign: “Respect faith.”
actually hears “David is ____” in his head (ala Facebook status) as he does things. Do you?

Practice makes perfect
November 17th, 2008 · No Comments
We become what we practice being. It seems so obvious, but sometimes I’m not sure how well we understand the implications. Happy “The election’s over, the votes are counted, and we have at least a few months before anyone has to think about campaigns again” Day!

“O God, help me to win, but in thy wisdom if thou willest me not to win, then O God, make me a good loser.” - Sir Robert Baden-Powell
I’m a Republican, but I haven’t been much of a fan of John McCain. Until this speech. For all of anything else you or I believe about him, [...]

Before you vote…
November 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
It’s been a long campaign, and it’s nearly over. Tomorrow, we’ll vote. Today, take the time to research any issue or race you haven’t truly made an informed decision about. Ballot initiatives, state officials, the local school board–don’t walk into the booth without knowing. Then make a decision. Tonight, sleep on it. Tomorrow (assuming you [...]
