It’s funny–having this big, blank canvas twice a week. I could put literally anything here that I can think, create, find or do.
Sometimes, a topic stands out and demands to be written, like when I went to “The Price is Right“. Sometimes, an experience teaches me something that I want to share. Occasionally, a topic in the back of my mind comes together suddenly. And occasionally I’m left clutching at straws until something clicks.
What I don’t want is to write purely for my own cathartic benefit. The web has enough of those blogs. As much as I hope for that to happen as well, my goal is for each post to have something of benefit for you, the reader, making it worth your time.
So, for today, here it is: write. If you’re involved in communications, you need to write to keep your job skills fresh. But even if you’re not, write. Every job could benefit from clear, effective writing. Sometimes it will come naturally; sometimes you’ll have to draw from past ideas; and sometimes you’ll just have to struggle until something works. But the more practice you get, the better you’ll become.
